His Story
From the Ward, For the Ward
Peter Barnes is a servant and community liaison born and raised in the 16th Ward. He has watched this community grow — and struggle — through every economic cycle, personally donating over $25,000 to The Urban Male Network in 2025 and designing and completing the construction of its basketball court at 6500 S Carpenter.
He's mentored and employed dozens of youth, helped organize, donated to, and assisted in annual Thanksgiving Drives at New Foundation of Hope consistently, and shown up at community meetings — not because he had to, but because this ward is his home and he cares about what happens here.
Peter has spent years working in community development, helping small businesses navigate city bureaucracy and advocating for infrastructure investment that too often bypassed the 16th Ward. He knows how City Hall works — and he knows how to fight when it doesn't work for us.
What He Stands For
Accountability
Peter believes elected officials answer to residents — not donors, not party bosses. He'll hold himself to that standard every day.
Transparency
No backroom deals. Peter will hold regular ward nights, publish his voting record, and explain every decision he makes.

Every vote, every meeting, every decision will be made with one question: does this make the 16th Ward better for the people who live here?
